| I have been asked, "How does the artist translate a scene
from nature into a painting?" There are probably as many explanations of
this as there are landscape painters. It has been said that art is
selection. Landscape painting is an exercise in selection.
|
| Space, shape, scale, light, color, movement, perspective,
etc. - the formal tools of painting - are used to build the visual
statement and "place" the subject in its two-dimensional environment.
Distilling the image and revealing its uniqueness so that the painting
becomes the communicator between the viewer and nature are the results I
work to acheive.
